This lecture provides an introduction to system dynamics and simulation. The focus is the key idea of **accumulations,** as these are the building blocks of any system dynamics model.

Accumulations are also known as stocks or levels, and represent a given quantity of a variable at a point in time. Stocks change only through their flows, and are represented mathematically as integrals (where flows are derivatives).

The following are the handouts:

- Lecture 01 Handout (a copy of the main slides)
- Exercise 01 (a copy of the first assignment based on analysing Ireland’s Central Statistics Office (CSO) time series data).
